CT guides allow for extremely accurate dental implant placement. The patient takes a prescription from Dr. Sielski to one of the area imaging centers that offer a cone beam CT scan. This scan is similar to having a panoramic X-ray done in a dental office. The patient sits in a chair. The procedure only takes 20 seconds. The images that are taken are then sent to Dr. Sielski. Dr. Sielski has software in his office that takes this information and allows him to look at the 3 dimensional images. He can place virtual dental implants into the 3 dimensional images. Once the plan is perfected, it is sent to a company that makes a surgical guide. The guide allows for the implants to be placed exactly as they appeared on Dr. Sielski’s computer.
