Edward Anthony Sielski

"Dr. Edward A. Sielski of Clarence, a widely known periodontist and dental implantologist, died of a heart attack on Aug. 26 while on a regular evening run. He was 61. Born and raised in Snyder, he was a 1973 graduate of Amherst Central High School and graduated with honors with a degree in preprofessional studies from the University of Notre Dame du Lac in 1977. Dr. Sielski graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 1981 and was elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the dental honor society. He earned a certificate in periodontics from the University of Alabama/Birmingham in 1983, and returned to Buffalo to start a periodontal practice. He also served in the Army Reserves Dental Corps until 1991. Dr. Sielski had offices in Cheektowaga, Batavia and Williamsville. He was a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontics, Academy of Osseointegration, International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the International Team of Implantologists, as well as the director of professional study clubs. Dr. Sielski was known as being a talented professional and demonstrating kindness toward his patients. He was active in the Notre Dame Club of Buffalo/Western New York and enjoyed music, art, travel, adventure and genealogy. A nature lover, Dr. Sielski enjoying hiking and skiing. He was active in Boy Scouts. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, the former Claudia Pantera; two daughters, Elise and Lauren; a son, Neil; one sister, Susan Duke; and a brother, Chester A. A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 4375 Harris Hill Road, Clarence."
